Courses
From a thirty-minute trial flight to airline transport theory. All at a real airport, with a tower and real traffic.
Licences
The full path, from your first solo to an airline flight deck.
LAPL(A) · Light aircraft
Thirty flight hours minimum. Lets you fly aircraft up to 2,000 kg with three passengers within Europe. The shortest route to flying solo.
PPL(A) · Private pilot
Forty-five flight hours and nine written exams. No weight or passenger limit, valid across Europe. It does not let you fly for money.
CPL(A) · Commercial pilot
From two hundred flight hours. This is the licence that lets you fly for a living: aerial work, towing, photography or air taxi.
ATPL(A) theory
Six hundred and fifty hours of theory and the national authority exams. It is the requirement for an airline flight deck, and it is done before building the hours.
Ratings
What you add to a licence to fly further, later and in worse weather.
IR(A) · Instrument rating
Flying with no outside references, on instruments alone. It is what separates flying at weekends from flying when you need to.
MEP · Multi-engine piston
Rating for twin piston-engine aircraft. Six flight hours and seven of theory, with a hard focus on engine failure.
Night rating
Five hours of night flying with its take-offs and landings. Added to the PPL, it opens up the whole day, not just daylight.
FI(A) · Flight instructor
To teach others to fly. You need a CPL, or a PPL with two hundred hours, plus a 125-hour theory course and the flying part.
Other courses and experiences
To get started, to keep building hours, or to bring a lapsed licence back.
Trial flight
Thirty minutes at the controls with an instructor beside you. No requirements, no commitment: the gift that hooks half the school.
Hour building
Aircraft hire with or without an instructor, to build the hours the commercial licence asks for. Paid by engine hour, not by course.
Aviation English (ELP)
Preparation and test for ICAO level 4, 5 or 6. Without it you cannot leave national airspace, and it expires.
Rating renewal
A refresher flight with an instructor and a proficiency check to bring the rating back. The longer you wait, the more hours it takes.
